Just back from two great weeks in Sanur staying at the Pondok Ayu, which was wonderful as usual. The best restaurant we found was Warung Pregina on Jl Danau Tamblingen. Wonderful Balinese food and reasonably priced, tried lots of things on their menu and werent disappointed. Try the stuffed tofu for starters, the chicken with red sauce for main course and the black rice pudding for dessert - then waddle home. Bali coffee at Bennos in the morning is a great place for beach/people watching. Their nasi goreng is very good. Bonsai and Mango are both great, you can't beat sitting under the trees with a gentle sea breeze of an evening. Have a chat - and a massage, manicure and pedicure - with the massage girls next to Bennos, they are entertaining! There are lots of great places to eat on the main street, depends what you like to eat and how much you want to pay. We found the best place to eat in Sanur was Warung Pojok on the Bypass, opposite the MiniMart, just down the road from McDonalds, mostly locals eat hear, very clean and cheap. Not fine dining but a great little place for lunch. Highlight of the trip was the bike ride with Bali Baik Bike from Ubud and back, you can find details on their website. A lovely cultural day out, beautiful food for breakfast and a sumptous lunch at the end of the ride. They are well organised, supply water along the way and very welcome cold flannel at the end of the ride. Its mostly down hill with stops along the way. Lots of explanations about the culture which was great. What's great about Bali - the locals, take some time to chat to them.
