These sorts of appliances have become quite cheap in Australia now, and there are also warranty issues to consider too.
With regard to advice on electrical connections, be careful about the advice being given on here about the colour of "the cables".
The colour codes for cable cores is dictated by international standards and must be adhered to in Australia, so it is likely that the entire cord would have to be replaced rather than just the plug.
In case you want to go through with this, the "live" core will be brown, the neutral will be blue and the earth (if there is one) will be green/yellow.
If you buy the machine in Australia, this wiring convention will be assured.
