Flew Virgin to Bali for the first time. Left Perth on time and the service was good. Left Bali half an hour late due to computer malfunctions. Would fly with them again.
Stayed at Rama Garden in Legian and loved the hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly, and being a small hotel with all rooms facing the pool area we got to know everyone and it was like a "family". The breakfast was OK, we ended up buying breakfast the last few days from restaurants nearby. We didn't like the service (or lack of) at the restaurant, wouldn't bother eating there again. The hotel does have food and beverage service around the bar but doesn't mind everyone bringing in their own drinks, in fact they provide esky's on request which are filled with ice daily for a small charge.
The highlight of our holiday was the night we spent at the Mara River Lodge at the safari park. We did the night safari tour and fed the zebras carrot by hand, and fed the lions chicken meat on a long stick through the wire cage that went over the window of the jeep. Was an amazing experience that is hard to put into words. Coming back from the safari tour they had the 9 month old tiger in the hotel foyer. We were able to sit on the floor with it and pat it. It was definately sedated.
We had 3 leather jackets made at French Leather in Garlic Lane. We have had jackets made by them previously and would recommend them for quality.
My husband had boots made again by Andre Leather in Garlic Lane. They fit perfectly, and would also recommend them.
We had a few meals at the Bali Beach Shack. We met some people at the hotel and the guys decided to dress up as girls to get the 2 for 1 cocktails on the Ladies Night. What a laugh. They also dressed up as fairies for the drag show that we went to. Of course they were pulled up on stage by the "girls" to join in the show.
As usual Billy's Bar in Garlic Lane provided a good laugh and we were entertained by the staff. They are always alot of fun.
We ate at Mozzarella's Restaurant in Jalan Padma, the food was lovely and the service excellent.
We both had tattoos done at Black Dragon on Jalan Padma. They were clean and the quality of the tattoo outstanding. I've left my email open and will send pics if you like.
Now home to cold and wet Perth, but looking forward to our next holiday in paradise in February 2011.
