I have't stayed but know people who have so I have visited them. The padma is a more sociable hotel with a pool bar and quite a few families (but not overrun with children like the Dynasty). The sofitel is def not a family hotel, more of a couples/honeymoon hotel. The rooms are nice at both hotels and both are in good locations on the beach.
