Our first time there, we went for 2 nights, 3 days. It's a 3 hr flight Bali to KL, Air Asia were great, excellent airline, also worth paying a few dollars to sit in the first 6 rows. Personally that was enough time for me, my teenage son enjoyed it more. We did the Petronas Towers, that was excellent, there is only a certain amount of free tickets(1300 or 1800)issued daily. We lined up at about 8.10 am and waited 1 hr 40 min for tickets. Once it was our turn we took the first available spot at 11.30am, well worth it. There were a couple of hundred people ahead of us in the queue, guess they must of been there at maybe 7 am. Yet they would of taken the 9am tour spots. Only 40 tickets issued per 15 min intervals thruout the day till about 6.30pm. Whilst in the queue there is a big board to view the ticket times and spots as they go.
The KL Tower was so so in views, we went at about 9am. Best to go about 11 am as the mist/clouds clear. Every aft between 2 -5 pm it rained, thunderstorms and then just disappeared. We did the Cultural Experience tour which you get a pony ride (guess great for families) one ride in the simulated car ride and the zoo whilst small was fabulous. For 5 ringits or $1.80 per animal you can hold a python snake and take your own photos or hold a galah birds or a iguana. Just do all three, only 5 ringits each person and take heaps of photos.
Whatever you do don't go on the 'aerobus' skybus service, it's 8 ringits and a poor person's bus, squishy, barely any air-con. We didn't know there were 2 companies, no matter. Go on the 'Go Asia Skybus', it's 9 ringits, ($3 Aud) and you get taken to KL Central bus depot in KL. Takes over an hour to get there. Go Asia buses are better maintained and great air-con.
Didn't like the Chinatown markets, much prefer the markets at Bali. Great shopping, pretty upmarket. The Pavillion and Suria shopping centre next to Petronas Towers excellent.
Sorry ppl know this is the Bali travelforum yet just answering a post's ?. This was our 3 rd visit to Bali, prefer going to Bali, Cheers...
