The last post I did we were into day 2 so I will continue on from there .
Up out of bed hit the shower and down to brekkie only to be once again at peace with all and sundry ( no toast nickers ). During brekkie her indoors who I now refer to as Princess Fiona decided she wanted to once more inflict further pain on Donkey (me) by invading Kuta once again . Fluckta shizzen I say to my self as I hate the bloody place . So we grab Nyoman freinds A & L and head into Kuta 1st stop was Ketuts in Garlic lane . This turned out to be a very pleasant suprise to me . A bottle of water each and many rupes lighter we depart Ketuts ! hour or so later .
Met A & L aat Mataharis to get more photos put to canvas and more Jack shopping . Time for a drinks break so into the bar next to Matahari order our first drinks , half way through Princess Fiona says to Donkey that's a Globe shop across the road we need to get shoes for son and see if they have any in Jacks size . So I get ready to take on the traffic , mobile phone at the ready in case I'm taken out by some irresponsible person on a motorbike . Safely across with shoes and hat in hand I make the return crossing without any problems . I must admitt that Kuta isn't as bad as it used to be but I still hate the place .
Rest day and we wait for the remaining people in our group to arrive . Just as I get to the lobby B & K arrive so I say hello ect go across the road get money changed and buy more supplies for pre dinner drinks ect . Talk about getting stitched up at Happy hour . I got the 2nd round of 4 binnies B says his better half has told him no more he ordered another round and goes only to re appear 1min later with the cocktail order for the girls (4) I get the bill and I have been billed for 8 binnies and the cocktails so much for scheme to get B.
There were many laughs on this trip as we went with dear freinds but perhaps the biggest of the lot was the fines and the immunity necklace . What the group had to do each day was come up with something we had to do . If you didn't do the requiresd challenge you were fined 1000 rupe for each breech . Some of the challenges were that you had to put your hand up to speak , tap yourself on the head when you addressed any of the group , needless to say we certainly got some funny looks from antone who had the misfortune to witness these strange carry ons but hey we had fun .
To end this I would like to tell you about the highlights of this trip for me and Princess Fiona . This trip started out as a combined 60 , 50 birthdays and 30th wedding thingymejig with just the two of us . We happened to mention this at a party with the neighbours the end result was that we were now 8 in the group , I must say it could not have been better planned if you had tried . I won't name the couples only to say that they truly made our combined celebrations one we will cherish for a very long time to come , sharing it with true freinds was a delight . that was highlight no 1 .
The second highlight was dinner at Giorgios in the Aston . As we have been going there for years Princess Fiona and I are treated like one of the Aston Family . After drinks around the pool we went back to get ready for the big night went into the bathroom and was absolutely taken back by what greeted me , I called out to Princess Fiona what's wrong she says come and have a look I says so in she comes to cast her eye over the scene a bath tub full of roses and other assorted flowers I can honestly say this is the first time I have ever come up smelling like roses . At dinner we were given first class treatment all the way from flower necklaces to the annivesary cake and the bottle of wine sent to us by Ibu Meike . All of this was unexpected as we only planned a dinner with freinds .
I have mentioned a few times our driver and freind Nyoman . In the past he has asked us to visit his village but unfortunately due to time constaints we have had to decline his offer . Not this time so along with another two couples we decended on Nyomans house and beautiful family . This was truly a most delightful experience to finally meet his family and feel the joy love and respect they have for eachother really made me feel very humble and honoured to be allowed to brought into their home . I must say Nyoman produced the COLDEST beer we had in Bali , it was so cold (large binnies that it was still cold at the end of the bottle .
Now I can't leave you without a bit of a laugh . This involves Chemist shops . One of our group who had back problems went into the chemist they had been using ( next to TT ) and discovered She had left her money with hubby so she put her medications in her bag and said I'll be back to pay leaving the poor chemist shop staff bewildered , she did go back and pay so no need for police . Now the same time I felt a little out of sorts Bintang Belly I think or it could have something to do with Champix . So I went to the same chemist explained how I felt and they produced a book and said this one any good for your condition jeez I could have had a birthday self medicating .
I hope I haven't bored you to tears with my ramblings . To all going to Bali for the first time appreciate Bali for what it is and to those returning for their upteenth time enjoy it as you know how.
Cheers.
