I just came back from my 5D4N vacation in Bali, Indonesia. Had an excellent time. I wish I could stay longer to actually enjoy the spa in Bali.
Anyway, I would recommend that you (future tourists) not rent a car and drive around Bali as the roads are pretty narrow and steep in some areas. Hire a driver. It's safer that way and if you wish to see Bali and learn about Bali, get a licensed tour guide.
My friend and I hired a licensed tour guide and we enjoyed our visits to Tanah Lot, Ulu Watu and Jimbaran. It's nice to be able to see and learn a bit about the culture.
I would recommend Anak Agung Gede Oka (Nick).
His website is http://www.bali-tours-guide.com
You will find him friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Bali and the culture. If you speak English mostly and do not converse in Malay or Bahasa Indonesia, you wouldn't need to worry because he is very conversant in English.
