I travelled to bali via jakarta last november on air asia and although i didnt purchase anything there were the normal duty free shops there. if you have to clear customs you will oviously pick your bags up for the officers to inspect/xray so im sure you could pack your grog into your suitcase if you wanted. the bigger drama that i discovered is make sure you know which terminal your plane arrives at and which one your next leaves from! there are 3 terminals in jakarta a few kilometres apart and we actually missed our next flight to DPS but with some pursauding they allowed us to take our whole suitcases onto the plane because the checkin had closed! funny now bu stressful at the time! also there is a 40,000 domestic flight tax to pay so make sure you have some rups on hand!
