I can see why you say only a difference of 2.30 hours but there are two issues.

1. We had booked the 12.30 pm flight for a number of reasons. Plenty of time to do the last minute things have a good night's sleep and get to the airport in non peak hour traffic. An 8.am flight means leaving home at around 5.30am and we are fortunate in living close to the city - if I lived at say the central coast this would probably mean an overnight stay in Sydney to avoid the potential problems of Sydney commuter traffic.
The second issue however is the way that Pacific Blue has changed (and judging from other posts) many other flight schedules without adequate notice let alone concern for the problems these changes created for their customers.
As the person who has paid for the fare I don't have the right to change my booking without paying a penalty yet Pacific Blue can do so without any thought to how it affects its customers.
Ultimately my only recourse is to complain directly to the airline and fly another airline in future.
