Need hotel suggestions

I normally stay at the Masa Inn, but need some recommendations for a friend who may want somewhere just a little more up-market.

Is happy to pay up to $50 (Australian) for a single room per night.

My friend is a male in his 40's, travelling solo, wanting somewhere fairly central, so either Kuta or Legian, and walking distance to the beach. Looking for a hotel with a mix of guests (ie not all young 20 year olds, not all families, and not all senior citz's)

Any thoughts?
