The process as reported by other tourists at this stage is she will get a 30 VOA on arrival, and then during her stay will need to go to Immigrassi near the airport and organise an extension for Rp250,000.

However, it would be really interesting and of great benefit to a lot of people on this forum if your friend could report her experience once she gets back to us on BTF. If in fact she was able to pay an extra US25 and get an immediate extension on arrival it would be good to know.

But, I suspect that the information she received from the consulate is incorrect. The fact is that the issuing of 60 tourist visas should still be done by the consulate as that is still a valid visa and is still being issued by other consulates around the world. At no time (to my understanding) did the change to the VOA rules mean that a tourist visa can ONLY be obtained on arrival.
