The main system of fighting in Indonesia is indeed Pencak Silat. You may encounter Perisai Diri (shield of oneself) and maybe Bukti Negara. There are quite a few groups training on a regular basis in Bali and Bali has produced a number of world champions in IPSI, this is the competetion of the collective silat groups. The 2010 Perisai Diri International Championship will be held in Jakarta from 17th till the 24th July. I train on a regular basis here in Australia and have the fantastic opportunity to train with the Pendekar (grand masters) when in Bali. These Pendekar have dedicated a huge part of their lives to their martial art and continue to share their knowledge and wisdom. If you have the opportunity to watch a training session you must go, it is truly amazing stuff!
