Ubud and we usually stay at least 10 days.
First - DVD's are OK from the Kodak shop across the road from the Lotus Cafe - they have an extensive range of CD's etc as well and also the supermarket on the left hand side down Monkey Forest Road (before the soccer field). Have bought DVDs from both for years.
I have never used a tailor in Ubud - I have had several wallets/handbags/coin purses made at Tommy's Leather, Padma Street, Legian. As usual in Bali - if you look hard enough you are sure to find someone in Ubud to show you where or how will make you a wallet!
Indus is hard to beat for views although I would also recommend Tropical Bale for rice field views (especially at night - with the fireflies - very romantic).
I don't know of an Italian as such, but you can get Italian influences (well pasta and pizza really!) in a lot of the restaurants. Try Terrazo & Nomads.
I hope you enjoy your 8 days - I love Ubud!! Where are you staying?
