I also have a great family that I sort of sponsor, I met them bout 8years ago and they have adopted me as an Aussie sister. Every time I visit Bali I bring gifts for some of them at a time. They usually consist of clothing eg: underwear, shorts, tops, singlets for the boys thats just for 1 visit, then when I return bout 6 - 12 months later I bring similar for the girls including smaller size bras that I pick up on specials during the year at the end of season clearance sales. I find this helps me as I am also budget strapped. While I,m in bali I will go food shopping buying lots of fresh veges rice noodles shampoos etc just as I would as if I was home, I have even cooked for them at thier home. I usually spend about $150 - $200 this will last for about 3 - 4 weeks for them as there are three brothers and thier wives and children. In return they offer me safety local prices at markets not tourists prices - I show them what I want and they get it for me half the normal price (T Shirts for around $4 000.00rp)they organise me cheap transport threw thier friends in the village what more could I ask for, they treat me like royality. I dont ask for any of this, its thier way of saying thanks.
