I firmly believe most cases of the belly are caused from you simply touching something that someone who is sick has touched. Most gastro type bugs are highly contagious. I've never touched the water, been rather paranoid about it in fact, don't eat from street sellers, been sick more times than I can count. It's not allways that easy. But, for me, since the antibiotics, so far so good....
