Hi
We ate at a place on monkey forest rd called Tropical which had really yummy food, also the Alam Shanti own a couple of restaurants which are fabulous. Because they have a car for you at Alam Shanti and will drive you anywhere in Ubud you don't have to worry about transport to these places. Alam Shanti also own a bakery which is where your breakfast and also your afternoon tea will come from.
At the end of the road that Alam Shanti is on is a path and its known as the motorbike trail which leads you on the edge of the Monkey Forest and will take you straight thru to the bottom of Monkey Forest Rd. Another restaurant which is owned by Alam Shanti is Laka leke which is only walking distance from the hotel.
As we only had a 3 days there we really just shopped on the main streets which were great anyway. Also if your into the whole fish spa thing then Ubud is the place to get it as its only 30,000rp, I know Kuta are charging 100,000rp. If your are hiring a motobike like we did the guy right outside Alam Shanti is fine and trustworthy and was very cheap I think 50,000 for the whole day.
We found a driver just on the street and went to the safari park which was great. We are taking out kids in June this year but thought we would stay there instead.
My mum & dad are staying at the Alam Shanti in june and they can't either.
What room have you booked?
Hope this helps you..
