I have stayed at Jayakarta 6 times in the past five years and just got back 2 weeks ago from staying at Ramada Camakila up the road. I would still stay at Jayakarta any day. Yes - sometimes you can get a bad room - but the staff are so accommodating they always do anything to help you and if you ask for something, they normally deliver as soon as possible. I have stayed at both the hotel rooms and the private apartments. The hotel grounds are amazing, location is excellent, breakfasts are as good as you get anywhere. The new Ramada Camakila is a 4.5 star and brand new - but lacks a Balinese atmosphere - does not have the beautiful outlook that Jayakarta has, nor the grounds. I think you need to make the most of wherever you go - you might be unlucky and get a bad room, unpleasant staff experience - just remember - YOU ARE IN BALI- WHAT IS THERE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT?!?!?
