I am one of the larger ones and are going to Bali in June. I am frantically trying to get into better shape for my own comfort... Having travelled on various airlines around the world none of them give enough width or leg room for anyone even slightly taller or wider than average. The way most developed countries are going it will be the norm almost to be obese. Children are already showing signs of being obese adults so the airlines are going to accommodate larger people in the long run. I don't know what the answer is but it will mean increased prices all round for everyone. I have requested to be placed in seats with extra room previously eg. near safety doors but these are now a premium and are charged for accordingly. My last flight was on the new 380 airbus with singapore airlines. This did have slightly more room and the seats reclined completely like a recliner rocker and not just the back rest part which was more comfortable. I have looked at airline policies and they do not have policies except for check in staff to place larger people next to empty seats if possible and if flight fully booked to just seat them in best possible seat and leave it to the flight attendants to sort the people out if and when a complaint is made. So if you don't ask to be moved when a large person is next to you the airlines are going to turn a blind eye. OVERALL THE AIRLINES DO NOT MAKE ENOUGH CONCESSION FOR DISABLED PEOPLE ON THEIR FLIGHTS SO IT MAY BE TIME THEY DID. Even to get into the toilet would be an impossibility for some larger folk.
