Sorry to hear your fiances mum feels concerned her daughter is going to bali but thats part of being a mum tell her there will always be warnings to bali it dosnt mean a cancelled holiday just gain more knowledge about bali. But do anyone really believe that the media make all this up for sensationalism?Travel warnings sure can be a way of reporting on information however small or true but it does means that there is something going on.I have many expat friends living in bali that take notice when something comes to attention as I learnt years ago before and after the first bombings when there is any information filtering about a warning to be more careful in certain areas in bali.I love bali like everyone else on here and praying there will never be another attack there but noone can say that wont happen - noone! My children now grown, travel there often and when there is a warning Im the first to give them my rundown on how and where I want them to be safe.I say bring on the warnings lets be aware that some type of info is getting through about a possible attack Im going to be grateful that I will be more careful in certain areas just as my friends who live in bali do.If a travel warning makes them up the security at the airport and other places Im all for it!Because whenever they do put it on the media the nutters may think twice about doing something crazy because the media is on to them they dont attack at the height of media attention and security high and when bali ups their security believe me Im happy about that.As for scare tatics I think we can all trust our OWN judgement in whether we go, feel safe etc. I can understand newbees to bali would be apprehensive about travelling but they can talk to people who have travelled there over the years and get good advise off the forum but its a personal decision - as I once advised a friend to go it was safe ,a family first time in bali and then they came close to losing a daughter in 2nd bombing I dont believe I have the right to tell anyone bali is safe again. If you think Indonesia will ever be totally safe again you must have your head in the sand!
