Some thoughts: I used to be a reporter and of course the media cover bad news. What kind of story realistically would be one that goes: "Everyone in Bali had a happy time today."
The warnings are realistic, two dreadful events reninforce that.
There is risk anywhere in the world, but it muct be said that some sections of radical religious groups do not like Westerners and want to do them harm. Bali is one of the places they have operated.
If the warnings encourage people to take care; to ensure they have a clear exit from night clubs and to be cautious if they see people behaving in a way that makes them suspicious, then the warnings have been of value.
Anyone who states that Bali is completely safe is ignoring the history.
I am a frequent visitor, but I am cautious.
