Back a couple of days now, we had a very quick 11 nights in Bali before I begin a new career so a bit of R & R was in need.
We stayed 5 nights in Sanur at Villa Puri Ayu in the 2 bedroom Emerald Villa. Loved the rooms, really comfortable with lovely soft beds, (mozzie nets in place)and would highly recommend. Breakfast included was ok, the little omletes very tasty.
Rained every morning and night at Sanur, last Sunday we encountered the BIGGEST electrical storm I have ever seen. One crack of thunder and lightening bolt was sooo close it sounded like a bomb explosion.
Ate at a few good places, my sons fav is Star bar and bistro (lamb shanks that just fall apart ), I liked Mago's out on the main street. Also ate at Trophy pub (pretty good, lots of old Aussies holding up the bar LOL) and Villa Shanti. I enjoyed the peace and quiet of Sanur, riding pushbikes daily to see the sites was fantastic.
And then to Kuta (husbands choice). Stayed at KTH, second stay there, rooms are large and suffice. Good value for money and you get what you pay for. The place was full of Aussies, yobbos , etc.. I know I sound like a snob but I dont do the loud Aussie thing very well, it makes me cringe. As i said, husbands choice as he loves the hussle of Kuta. Best meal in Kuta was TJ's Mexican, absolutly loved it. Fantastic frozen Raspberry Margerita was to die for.
We spent the beach days at Geger and Seranghan (sorry about the spelling) as Kuta was wind blown and dirty as expected at this time of year.
This was our first time in the rainy season and it was a bit of a shock to us. No leisurly afternoons spent swimming at Legian and then sunset beers, it was blowing a gale, the beach sellers all huddled behind the small buildings. It must be a dramatic drop in their income. On the other hand I have never seen the beach at Geger so full and busy. Still a beautiful little patch of Bali :-)
