I was hoping for some advice. I am in the process of booking a villa for August for myself and a group of friends. I have been contacting the villa directly and they have requested a 50% deposit to secure the booking. This is fine and I am happy to transfer the funds however now that I have received the invoice the account they are wanting me to put the funds into seems to be an account that has the name of the villa manager as the account name (not the name of the villa itself or even the owners name).
This is ringing bells for me and I dont want to place near on $4,000 into an account to be told when we arrive that my booking never existed (and that the "manager" has taken off with my money). The manager tells me there are no credit card facilities so I cannot be covered by paying in this way.
My question is, is this normal for a villas bank account to be in the name of the manager?
