You can go to the Apple shop in Denpasar and be assured of getting a genuine i-phone but the price is about the same as Australia. Maybe a 2 or 3 dollars cheaper. Also your warranty will not be valid in Australia.....excuse for extra trips to Bali if phone breaks!

You can purchase i-phone in phone shops but be aware that they are copies and may not work at all.

Buy in Australia from the cheapest place possible, make sure it is unlocked, buy within your 30 days of travel and claim back the gst. You must take all that is on the reciept with you out of the country but you don't need to take all the packaging. You will have 30 days to learn how to use it and if unlocked be able to put a Bali sim card in and use whilst in Bali.
