Especially on children, can have awful pyscotic side effects. I have travelled to lombok and Sumbawa with early teenage children and we take Doxycylline with no problems. We have also travelled to Lombok once and did not take anything just kept vigilant about mozzies. We always take 2 electric plug in mozzie zappers.
Yes you can get anti malarials in Bali. I think we paid 220,000rp for 2 weeks supply for 3 people.
