Continuation...

Optik Jaya Mandiri
Jl Legian Kelod Gg Melani No 3 Tel: 0361 7867360
Have been going here for a few years now after following DennisC's recommendation.
I needed some new reading glasses. As I wasn't well I rang them to see if someone could come by the Villa. Not a problem. Had my eyes re tested & new glasses delivered that afternoon.

Still in dial up mode I wasn't leaving Bali without 'paint your nails'.

Nail Painting
At the beginning of Gang Abdi ( Diagonally Opposite Melasti Beach Resort ) you will find Ketut - Mob: 085 737 143 759. She used to do all the massages and nails round the Puri Raja Hotel pool for a number of years. I think she does a good job with nail art & is very fast. They have a small salon 'Ena & Ketut Spa' in Gang Abdi but I haven't actually been in there.

Silverberry & Perlu - Pandora
Perlu still had the special buy two beads get one free. Unfortunately one of the beads doesn't fit my bracelet. This is my own fault for not checking.
Silverberry had a good selection of the silver charms. Example : alarm clock, Budda, cat, dog, horse shoe.

Traffic
It was pretty much jammed to the max which occurs this time of year. Putu our driver had guests staying t a Hotel near Bemo corner. It took him 4 hours to get to/from the hotel to his home in Kerobokan one afternoon. He rang his wife to say that he was hungry and could she bring him some food by bike hahahah.

I am convinced the strip along Jl Padma Utara in front of Melasti and Puri Raja Hotels is the prime spot for Aussie idiots on bikes. Makes me cringe for fear of a bad accident and also I feel embarassed to be an Aussie.

Stolen bags
Whilst at the Kusnadi the Ambulance came early hours one morning after a young lady was injured whilst walking home from a rave party. The usual guys on a motor bike snatching her bag. She needed stitches and was badly bruised.

One evening a handbag was stolen at the Captain Cook bar by an opportunist who came in from one side and snatched it and off they went out the other side of the bar as quick as a flash.

Babi Guling
We were invited on Christmas Day to Gang Abdi for a wonderful Balinese dinner. We enjoyed the same on New Years Eve. Our carport at the Villa became the food table area with the Babi Guling taking centre stage. Canopys were set up across the gang &chairs lined the gang so that just a motor bike could pass. It was a very hot eve NYE and so fans were wired up Bali style to keep us cool. A group of local lads came by & tucked into some food & soft drinks. They were wearing a uniform and so daft me enquired had they just come from School ?? Hahah no they are a local gang and the shirts were their identity hahaha.

Tailor
Komang Jl Padma
I brought over some Indigenous material to have our uniforms made for our Palmerston Sunset Retreat here in Darwin. They came up fabulous.
The cost was 100,000Rp for the more complex designs and 80,000Rp for the shirts of a more simpler style. I also requested the buttons be hand sewed as I have found the machining method lasts 5 seconds.

Well thats the end of my JBR. We have booked accom for August 2011 so that will probably be our next Bali trip. Planning to go to Vietnam at the end of this year for something a little different.

Happy New Year to all.
