I'll start by saying that this is my first ever report, be gentle with me
this is my families observations from our first week on Bali. I use the
forum all the time for information and I thAnk all the contributors. I know
from past experience things get so hectic once back at home I'm very
slack at JBR's hence a here now report. It's coming from an itouch
on the hotels wireless so apologies now for spelling mistakes.
I thought I'd start with restaurants as everyone loves to talk about
food.
Bennos sindhu beach : we were slightly disappointed as we have been
going here for nearly 10 yrs. Food was fine but the staff have lost
their bubbly friendly nature we have got user to. No welcome drinks or peanuts
as in previous visits. We shared a seafood plate for two which wasn't
that big and we have since had other grilled seafood nicer & cheaper .
We were told they lost a staff member 18 months ago and that could
be why they aren't the same place we are used to .
Street Cafe 21 jl danau tambligan: we get a discount on the breakfst
from our accomodation so full cooked breakfast with a slice of bacon
sausage grilled tomatoes 2 eggs anyway toast juice tea or coffee for
25000 instead of 45000rp is a steal.
We ate there for tea one night I had yummy ayam betutu daughter
had fried chicken son fish n chips and hubby mixed seafood all good
except prawns were actually small Shrimps.
Wicked parrot jl danau tambligan : 2nd night we ordered the Waygu steaks
mine was fantastic but my husbands beside not Cooke medium as requested
was rare and also very tough . In fact our two steaks looked totally
different. Daughter had cordon bleu but didn't like the fact it had too
much cheese son's schnitzel like my meal was good. This still is the dearest
meal so far. I told my husband maybe I've spoilt him too much with
my good cooking.
Puri Made rest 72 jl Danau tambligan : got lunch takeaway really cheap
the Nasi goreng and grilled garlic squid were so yummy but the
french fries were dismal and the lumpia were empty . I thinks they had
to go and find the cook or wake him up as it took ages to make.
Amsterdam cafe just outside hardy's supermarket: we saw they were
empty most days we went passed so thought we'd just grab a snack
spring rolls were crunchy and weep drained and had filling . Son had nuggets
you guessed it. He's the fussy one in the family. As we waited people
started to sit at other tables . We seem to have this effect where ever we
go this trip.
Made frangipani jl danau tambligan 39: have got mie goreng takeaway
twice very nice according to my daughter.
Kami sama Sindhu beach': admittedly it was during a blackout that
we ate here by candle light. Lucky I had a torch to read the menu.
I had a nice grilled snapper but should have thought about the bones
I'd have to remove in near darkness managed it ok . All other meals
ok.
BBQ corner mango cafe 15 jl danau toba: grabbed a drink & snack
of fish cakes (my guess tuna) nice and nuggets. Not bad at all
hypermart at matahari's Bali mall galleria : absolutely the cheapest
mie gorend on special freshly made before you 9,900 rp with a free
bottle of very sweet ice tea . Very yummy surprise.
Warung Pregina 106 jl danau tambligan : just the 2 of us went and
shared 3 dishes . Had seen recommendation on btf and another guest
at our hotel likes it. We weren't dissapointed. Live music and the guy
knew the words . Curry seafood. Spicy. Chicken and a seafood combination
with very tender squid. Pity they ran out of cold bintang as our mouths
were on fire. Stool the cheapest dinner so far even adding the kids
takeaway we got before we went out .
Mona Lisa 98 jl danau tambligan : this is becoming our new fav sanur
eating place . We have had breakfast and dinner here without compalints
and as u can guess I have to live with some fussy eaters. My beef stroganoff
was so tender and it was nice to have a baked potato in it's jacket with
sour cream. Fussy son doesn't eat sauces or gravy and they were
happy to leave off the sauce salsa and swap veges for wedges .
All this was while we had our 2nd blackout in the 1st week.
Corridor 33a jl hang tuah : went there for lunch and again I Swear
that they had to go fetch the chef . food took a while longer than Normal
to come but the sesame chicken was worth the wait. My sons tuna roll had a
really weird taste to it but he still ate it . Pork schnitzel was just ok.
Cinnamon rst formerly Kalpatharu as they still have the old sign out
front :80 jl danau tambligan . All very good meals steak with bacon
prawns cream sauce cordon bleu fish n chips and mixed kebabs
got welcome drink and bread
forgot to say welcome garlic bread at Mona Lisa too
Bali zoo : we ate lunch as we waited for the show . Not the
cheapest lunch but no complaints and welcome bread with garlic
butter & pesto oil. Good sates , spaghetti bol & yummy pizza.
aladin rst: jl Danau tambligan : well this was recommended on btf
and the owner was really friendly out front so we thought we'd
give it a try . They were packed & turning people away. My chicken
florentine & sons fish n chips were great but daughters mie goreng
was so salty way too much soy sauce and the so called fillet steak
was not a real steak . more like a manufactured one that had the texture
of corned beef or silverside. it had no flavour & they covered it with
a salty gravy . When asked how his steak was hubby told the truth .
The owners answer was it was imported then he disapperd and avoided our
table we had to get one of the girls cleaning to get us the bill. Oh well
we live n learn .
This is our 1st of nearly three weeks more to follow if I don't get told off
