After collecting our luggage we ventured off to exchange small amount of currency to get us started. Going rate on NYE, at the airport was 8000rph.
The 3 of us oldies where staying in Sanur, the young fella, Kuta.
Our driver was straight in front of us as we exited the terminal, huge sign & almost as huge smile on his face.... lovely way to arrive.
Ok now, so Griffo... where is your driver? looking, looking, nope nowhere to be seen :(
I personally arranged his transfer through his hotel, so i know it was booked, sadly though it did not arrive. Us being newbies, we werent going to leave him until a lift was sorted, and we were grateful our driver was patient with us & understood us not wanting to leave him. Taxi organised & a few words of advice from his dad about letting the hotel know that he wasnt happy etc etc.
We reach the van, open the back to load our luggage & BINGO!!!! a little red esky with icy cold bintangs is produced for our pleasure :)
Do i need to mention where we were staying? Im guessing the little red esky is an offspring of the now famous BIG RED ESKY!
So we hit the road & arrive at our villa at 11.40pm, to be greeted at the gate by the one & only Mr. Ron aka BloodyRon. Bags whisked off to our villa while Ron invites to partake in a beverage or 3, under the lovely gazebo poolside. Our villa is HUGE, actually known as Party Central by some of the other inmates whoops i mean guests.
A/con was cold & bintang even colder! so we new we would enjoy our stay.
Well what can i say about Ron that hasnt already been said???
The perfect host, who goes way beyond his role to ensure you are happy & is a wealth of information on the place. He never steered us wrong once! And a fantastic sense of humour, we laughed the entire stay :) Irma is just gorgeous, always smiling & happy to have a conversation with you anytime.
Our sons hotel in South Kuta, Febris,we visited twice. Nice, clean, big room. Lovely view from 2nd floor balcony... bougainvilleas in flower everywhere. Sparkling, clean pool. Though i must say i thought there was far too much concrete for my liking, which made it very hot.
But thats just my opinion. He liked it which was the main thing.
Hotel security officer was good, helped our son out of a potentially nasty situation which i will get to in part 3.
