We stayed at the Lokha from Dec 23 to Dec 27 and I was fairly disappointed by the experience. Yes, its a good location, but we had issues with the staff (sweet people who became incredibly rude when we checked out and there were issues - see my JBR - "its not our problem, its your problem" etc), and I thought the whole place looked fairly grotty/run down. We had stayed in a STUNNING villa with a private pool beforehand in Seminyak, so I don't think the Lokha really ever stood a chance, but I was still hoping it would be better than it was. The food on offer was fairly poor, and the drinks were super expensive (about RP50,000 for a large bintang)... The restaurant was nearly always empty (excpet at breakfast time). And the stairs in the hotel (if you're stuck on the 3rd floor there's a lot of them) are quite dangerous and slippery (my sprained ankle can attest to this). We also had issues with the cleaning of the rooms each day. Our floor was never swept/vacuumed, toilet paper wasn't replaced, and all towels/sheets etc had a very grey tinge to it. I also didn't like how from 2pm to 6pm every day they had the same music blaring out around the pool area. You couldn't drown it out in the rooms, and I didn't find it very relaxing...
Some positives though... the pool bar was nearly always manned, its a great location, the pizza joint out the front is great, there were always plenty of towels by the pool to use.
Some people might think I'm doing too demanding/critical... and again I stress that we had stayed in near Paradise just before this, so perhaps a hotel room and a shared pool was never going to cut it, but I was hoping for more.... I just wouldn't recommend it to any one, but can understand why others might be ok with it.
