It takes a fair bit to get me excited these days. Those shots of Jennifer Hawkins in the nuddy hardly raised a smile, let alone anything else, yet, I now find my upcoming holiday (8 weeks and counting) has become some sort of new learning curve in good old Bali. I am also feeling sad and guilty that our holiday is not to take us to our wonderful hotel in Tanjung Benoa, and the fantastic staff that look after us. Instead, as their are 11 of us going this time around; the consensus was to book a villa, and to go somewhere we have never been before. My wonderful wife took the pilot's seat and has spent many an hour trawling the internet for some good deals. As I expected she has come up trumps, and we have booked a 4 bed Villa in Umalas for $300us per night. Although this now works out to be a very cheaply shared holiday, my heart is low at missing out on Ibu Omelette's daily banter, the Germans at the pool and the French resistance, ( an oxymoron if ever there was one). What to do about JBR's ?? I mean, how can I write 15 daily reports about a family group, sitting round the pool, in a villa in a rice padi, and in an area I know nothing about. So no waltzing around the toaster, no HP sauce with my chicken sausages, and no Novotel :( This time it will be trying to get a table at The Living Room, Ku De Ta and various other yuppy hangouts. As I said, I am quite excited about this new venture, and hey, I'm even hiring a car ! but I really do feel very guilty about not going to the Novotel. One thing I will do is catch a cab and go visit the brekkie staff whilst I am there, and also return a few pool towels from vacant loungers. Hopefully that will produce at least one JBR of substance. I may even stay on for breakfast :)
