I haven't stayed at Nusa L, so I can only comment on Gili T.
Perhaps we were just lucky with the weather (Sept trip), but I have to admit that I did not encounter one mosquito on Gili T and we did not take any anti-malarial tablets at all.
I am usually a magnet for them and I always pack the Bushman's DEET and that was more than enough to keep me bite-free.
I have used the tablets when we visited Borneo, but since there is no jungle on Gili T, I was comfortable to not take them there, but I can understand with children would need to be careful.
