I went with open eye's to phuket v's bali
Statyed 1 night in Patong beach - our hotel backed onto a night club, could have happened anywhere. We moved next day from Patong up to Karon Beach and loved it there. We found Patong very sleazy with heaps of old guy's with young Thai girls - very sad.
Did the ocean canoe trip - this was a great day out although we were the only english group of 4 on the vessel. for us Koh Samui was way better value and nicer too. Similar to Bali but different, no hawkers and very relaxing, we stayed over at Big Budda beach - heaps of accomodation avail at all levels. Koh Samui voted in top 10 airports - it's wonderful. Would we go back to phuket - yes but not as often as we would Bali
