I've always flown out of Bali on the midnight-ish flights and never noticed that much was closed at all. There's plenty of cafes to sit and have a drink or snack, loads of shops to browse through. I've even bought stuff at the Periplus bookshop there late at night before a flight home.

The lounges are a good option, though you will still need to entertain yourself. The food provided is ok, and plenty of drinks such as beer, soft drinks, coffee, water etc. Comfy chairs is the big plus. Pretty sure it's Rp100K each to get in, from memory. A few years ago I bought a small can of diet coke and a bottle of water from one little cafe and it cost me Rp47K - so there's a value comparison for you.

Only trouble with the lounges is that they're getting too popular, so seats aren't as plentiful as they used to be.
