If you use credit card you will be hit with exchange rate fee's and a fee for the transaction and you get a lessor rate per dollar than you would if you paid for it in rupiah. The exchange rate in Bali is better than using the credit card.
My husband and I normally cash a large sum when we arrive and give it to them for X amount of days then exchange again and pay them some more.
It not hard to do this. Kunsnadi is relative a good price hotel therefore easy to exchange and pay them upfront.
Make sure your check your receipts and get a receipt.
Good Luck.
