I have used both airlines a number of times depending on how good a deal we get.. We are going in February and are flying starclass because we got a buy 1 get one free starclass tickets...yes lucky us...anyway I think garuda is alot better in comfort and service and meals.
Starclass is not horrible, but really both of them are a glorified Premium economy seat...as true business class have much better seating (as in flatbeds or a much better recline etc). I think it is worth the extra as we fly from Sydney approx 6.5hrs flying time, can go to business class lounge, 30kg checked luggage...If you are going Garuda dont forget to join their frequent flyer program is you get quite a few points for flying BC. Enjoy
