Hello Larnes. I recently stayed at Bali Sunhouse www.balisunhouse.com in July 2009 for 13 days. As there are only 7 rooms, you need to book in advance. Bali Sunhouse operates as a Homestay. It has a little kitchen with a refrigerator and there are 2 hotplates for cooking for all the guests. In each room, a plastic container with the room number is supplied to keep foodstuffs whether dry or for the refrigerator. It's handy if you want to make tea, coffee or snack. Breakfast is inexpensive and readily available at nearby warungs/cafes so I didn't cook meals.

The owner/manager is Arline, a lovely young Swiss woman and her husband Louis also assists. I had to move rooms once because I'd been lucky enough to receive a cancellation at the last minute and so I spent 1 night in one room and the remainder of my time in another. Most of the rooms front a central courtyard. I found that the rooms were comfortable and clean with a king sized bed. The bathroom was very good with good water pressure and plenty of cupboard space in the bathroom and bedroom. I liked the inroom safe to secure passport and money. Some people may say the room is small and although not huge, I found there was sufficient room with enough wardrobe space. For the room rate, I thought it was great value. I'm also one not to sit in my room all day or by the pool, preferring the beach for a swim.

The Bali Sunhouse location at 36 Jalan Mertasari is just south of the Mecure entrance on the opposite site of the road about a 5-10 minutes walk. I enjoy walking. Around 9.30-11.00 pm at night, I got a taxi back as it's a little dark after the Mercure for about 20-30 metres and for personal safety (my Balinese friends advised this) and because I'm a 56 year old woman, for AUD2.00, a small price to pay. If I were with my husband, I'd walk with him because I don't tend to feel unsafe at all in Sanur. During the day though, Bali Sunhouse is in a very pretty area. It's any easy and pleasant walk to the nearby beach at Cafe Kesuma (a great warung for seafood and food generally). Bali Sunhouse has a nice little pool with a day bed and a couple of lounges. Just remember it's a small homestay not a hotel.

As for the mosquitos, I was there in the dry season. So in the wet season in Bali from about late October - March, wear tropical strength insect repellent at dawn and dusk, close the windows and doors and spray the room with insecticide when leaving the room.

Bali Sunhouse suited me fine and I really enjoyed my homestay. There are two young women who clean and a security guard at night. Arline was having a problem getting Indonesian Telekom to repair the WiFi despite daily contact with the company. It may be working again now but it was intermittent.

Oh yes, and there's a little white rabbit, Joyce, who lives in the garden and is often released to roam the garden! Very cute and quirky which is what I love about Bali.

I would recommend Bali Sunhouse to those who are seeking a good budget homestay accommodation without the frills like restaurant, brekkies and trimmings.
