We are just back from Anakula Villas also. We stayed in Villa 3 and overall enjoyed our stay there. I agree at first it was a shock with the location but after the first day or so it was ok. We went with our 4 year old and 6 mth old boys and the purpose was to relax so suited our needs well.
The staff are lovely and will help you with anything you need. We had laundry done through the villa. Gave the laundry to the girls there and they organised it all for us. Came to 30 000rp for about 15 or so things. There english however isn't the best but we had no problems. If you need a taxi just let them know and they will run down the road and come back with one. They came in handy because the dirt road can become pretty muddy if it rains. However the walk to Legian st isn't bad where all the action is.
The power went off once when we were there and the girls brought emergency lights in for us. The rooms can get hot because the air con is a little small. It was more noticable in the bigger room. We also ordered from the menu they have. We told the staff what we wanted and she ordered and picked it up from a restaurant in Legian. The food was reasonable and we didn't get sick. We also used the hallo food delivery service and had no problems. They knew where the villa was so didn't have to explain to them where it was. We picked our brochure up from the bintang supermarket.
There is also a large aqua water dispenser which was very handy and they replaced it when it was empty. Villa 3 can get hot with the afternoon sun in the lounge room but you can watch tv from the pool so it was fine for us. The pool was great also clean and big. A pool guy came in every afternoon/night to clean it etc.
