I live in Lovina and would agree about Rambutan - they even have a kids playground and the hotel is central to everything in Lovina.
Make sure you try restaurant Barclona (great indonesian/Balinese food)- a short walk up Jalan rambutan - turn left as you leave the cottages. And towards the beach are warung apple and JB's pizza. All very cheap and great food. And Kakatua restaurant on the main street - Jalan Binaria - has a good kids menu. Restaurants in Lovina tend to be way below the rest of Bali standard, but these are the good ones!
If you don't need ambience, try warung Lina on the main road next to the food market. Nasi goreng etc 6,000 - 10,000 rupiah and absolutely fantastic.
Also would recommend a trip to hot springs to wear the kids out!
If you need a local driver try Gede "atat" - he has great english and is excellent with kids 0813 532 76247
I know - more answers than questions but too many people come to Lovina, stay in the wrong hotel, eat in the wrong places and then never come back!
Have a great time : )
