Lonely Planet or Rough Guide - get the most recent - money well-spent. Also check out the Thorn Tree site. Perama (can buy tickets anywhere at stalls on the street) is a cheap but often unpleasant way to travel around. A driver & aircon car will be about Rp200K/half day. Maybe you can share - ask around at your hotel. If you want to use local transport then the Guide books will be a big help.

I do hope you have accommodation booked, at least for the first few nights, as it will be very busy then.

Be aware that females alone can be targets - the Balinese are renowned for their friendliness & hospitality but be VERY careful always. Be aware that not all fellow tourists are angels. I never ever tell anyone (from taxi drivers to other tourists at my hotel or anywhere else) that I am alone. Err on the side of caution & you should be fine.
