For the same price as a room you can get a 1 bed/r apartment, private owner in the Aston Hotel & Residence. Not sure if there is a minimum stay, will be staying there next year. Easier to email Alex Riva the owner, he promptly replies.

Check it out, may or may not suit your family. Guests have access to all the facilities of the Aston Kuta. It would be roomier for a family than just a room in a hotel, only a 10 min walk to Discovery Mall.
