I have flown with AA five times this year.
There was little money involved, as I always fly on promotional tickets.
As far as financial stability is concerned. They did make a big loss in one quarter last year when they bet the wrong way on the oil price AND the payments for the oil hedging contracts went to Lehman Bros.
AA Malaysia is currently profitable but it is refusing to pay 64m MYR for landing fees to the owner of the LCCT, due to AA claiming the fees are too high. The shareholders of AA Malaysia include Ryan Air and several well connected Malaysian companies.
AA Thailand and AA Indonesia are making losses.
