I did early this year from Lombok and it was fine.
When our vehicle arrived at the village where you catch the boat across to the island we had to leave our car and use the village ponies to travel the last couple of 100 metres at a small cost of course.
I would endeavour to reduce my luggage to the bare essentilas (which is all you need on the island)to make that last few metre wade a little easier.
We came back to Bali on a small cruiser that was having engine trouble. Bobing up and down off the coast (engine shut down ) with the strong smell of fuel was a little diconcerting and a green tinge was beginning to appear on a few faces. But we made it of course just another Bali moment to remember.
