Book tours online now or book in Bali?

We only have 8 days planned and arrive next Monday. Have been hunting tour prices online and there is a great variation in cost (even for what looks to be the same tour with one company).

Have found white water rafting with Sobek ranges from USD$79 To USD$52 per adult depending on who I book through.

How come such a variation in price?? Is it best to wait till I get there and try to bargain the price down with the nearest tour operator or get an "internet deal" now?
