Bakung's Beach Cottages, Taban- fantastic value for a budget hotel[$20 per night]Central location but quiet, good shop nearby for essentials, good 'beauty place'- to the left- Daisy, ample power points, friendly staff, clean pool and rooms, pleasant grounds, good air con.room service.
On the 'minus' side the towels varied from fluffy to very thin- but there are plenty available- just ask.No mini bar or ice tray, and no pool towels.Avoid the beef rendang across the road.
Try Mudi's resturant- turn right from Bakung's just up lane on the left or Pantai-turn left from hotel down lane, left again toward beach.
Contact Smudge to ask what is needed , before you go- he organizes care of very poor people in the North of Bali.[smudge@yayasanpeduli.org]He will pick up goodies from the hotel.
Contact careforkidsbali.com to see what is needed at the orphanage in Denpasar. The orphanage is worth a visit-very humbling., however it feels good to do a little something!
Dr Retno Agung- excellent dentist- very gentle.
Lhaksmi Clinic- not a good personal experience. Don't expect
an hour's treatment of acupuncture;do expect deep tissue massage and bruising.
Hope this is of some help.
