JBR 30 OCT - 8 NOV its a bit long...
Another wonderful time was had in Bali although a short. Got cheap airfares a while back with PB. Flight from Sydney uneventful and met by Murti on arrival, thank god as the lines for VOA and through customs were 20mtrs + long. We had our bags and were out of there within 15-20mins. Heard from some others later on that flight they were there for nearly 2hrs!! Stayed at the KUTATOWNHOUSES again and cant complain about the rooms or the public areas however the towels were shabby and grey and the pool towels smelt like they were being washed in cats p@#S!! It took us a while to figure that a cat had not been locked in the apartment overnight it was in fact a wet pool towel! Uhmm, I did let the housekeeping know but not sure if they understood my issue? Speaking of cats I promised Andrew( manager) at KTH a Geelong jersey if they won the flag this year, so along with the jumper and a WEG poster a shrine is now available in the AFL room for all to see (Im sure that interests all the Collingwood and saints fans there) We were met by DennisC at the door with 2 very cold bintangs! THX Dennis, don't you just love Bali? Had dinner at tj'S which was ok, good Margarita's this trip. Next day off to Jl Benesari to Duan spa for 3+ hrs of bliss! Had many massages and pedicures over the 10days there but just love the massages here with the full number for around $25. Did lots of walking and usually got up by 6.30 to walk along beach from kuta to end legion and back, I stood on some wasp thing one morning and the expletives from the pain are not printable here. God it hurt, and on returning back along the beach did it again, I had froth coming from my mouth and eyes like taps and telling my friend where the insurance docs were and to get me to BIMC if I collapse ( funny for two Emergency nurses haha) Luckily I brought the hospital with me and took phenergan when I got back to rooms. Met some great people on the beach each day with amazing stories. All the dogs on the beach were collared and in the care of loving owners. I love to watch them playing in the water. Ate at mostly the little warongs around kuta, they are so cheap and the food is amazing. Loved bamboo gong, and Indonesian warong down lane towards poppies 2 from KTH. I took travelan intermittently over there but never even got a belly ache and no runs! May be my guts is finally coming to terms with bali food and water? Perhaps the bintangs prevent any bugs growing? That's it, drink more bintang!! Went to Paddy nightclub one night after diner_ a first and last for me. OMG WHAT DO THEY PUT IN THOSE JUNGLE JUICE?? I had 3 tupperware containers of the poison and boy did I pay for it the next day with the mother of all headaches and vomiting on off for hours. Unfortunately it was the day I was going to amlapura to the orphanage and all I wanted to do was die! I have recollections of leaving paddys to offers of men, woman and both? Thank god for good friends!Saw some of the StKilda footballers at Paddys and I bet they had big headaches as well!! Feels like a survival trip so far.... LOL Will do amlapura ,discovery of virgin beach, robbery and tattoo in next post. Cheers Carmel
