First off so that you know I'm knew to iphone and not tech savvy....
I used my i-phone in Bali with a ProXL simcard for texts and calls to Australia and within Bali, no problems, no idea of costs, doesn't bother me too much.
I also used it to connect to the internet, I managed to connect to my bank, facebook, btf, google but unfortunately it would not connect to Westnet (where my emails were), this is all via ProXL. BUT if I was in an internet cafe, free or otherwise, wifi area then I could connect to all.
I have since found out that ProXL is not an Apple liked provider and Simpati would have been the better sim card to have, also I didn't have my phone set to recieve my email via the Safari app.
Next trip I will still use the ProXL as I have had this card/number for ages and we'll see if the phone setting change has made a difference.
I could not use tethering with ProXL to my laptop but believe that the Simpati would have been the one to go with.
You could use the Whirlpool forum to get other responses regarding i-phone, I have found them to be very helpful.
Hopefully as I'm still learning and researching my iphone use I'll get a bit more savvy to it. Maybe someone else will add to this post and I'll get some more info too!
