I got to Bali once or twice a year and have become a Seminyak convert in the last couple due to the restaurant and shopping in the area.

I stayed at Breezes earlier this year for the first time. The rooms are ok, little small, but I like the location.

I have put together the below information from personal experience as well as bits I have picked up from the forum over the years for friends going and happy to pass on for your reference. Please no flaming from forumites as this is just my personal opinion, so may not agree with.

SEMINYAK - Restarants
The main dining experences in the area are on Jl Laksmana (also known as Eat St) with many more just a short distance away.

Cafe Moka - On Jl Raya Seminyak (the main street). (0361) 731424 We only tried for lunch and it was great. Fantastic French patisserie. The raspberry or strawberry tarts & chicken bagette are very yummy.

The pizza club- jl laksamana - Ph. (0361)730 614 - they deliver boiling hot too amazing menu - great for a night in the villa. Their website has all their pizzas. Pizza were really good.

Khaima - Jl. Laksmana +62 361 742 3925- Good, delicious Moroccan food. Loved the entrée's

GROCER AND GRIND - +62 (0) 361 730418 - Jalan Kayu Jati, a street that runs parallel to Jl Laksmana. (Body and Soul Spa is on the corner of this street - so I good place to stop for lunch after a morning spa treatment) Walk down about 200m from Jalan Laksmana and you will get THE best coffee in Bali. They offer Soy and Skim. Oh and the Ricotta pancakes are "out of this world" and scrumptious cakes - good for brunch. This is also where we bought really good bread for breakfast and coffee for the villa.

Ultimos - Jalan Laksmana - 0361-738720 - Amazing Italian food, great ambience, very well priced. Must book a table as it is very popular.

Rumors - Jalan Laksmana - 0361 738 720 - Was our favourite until Ultimos. Best chocolate pudding & great steaks/salads. In JL Laksmana. A noisy atmospheric place with a great buzz and really good international food. Not too expensive but always busy so book a table.

Ku De Ta - Jalan Laksmana (near your villa) - +62 812 38 42 411 - Great breakfast and a must for at least 1 AMAZING cocktail at sunset. Get there early to get a sunbed &and watch the world go by. This is THE place to take in the sunset and people watch.

JP's Warung - Jalan Dyanapura(same street as Breezes) - near corner of JL Raya Seminyak at the top end of the same street at Sofitel - the best beef rending. Really good variety of food & great salads at lunch. Really friendly staff & have great live bands Wed - Sat.

Sarong - 19 Jalan Petitengat Tel - 62361737809 - I really wanted to try but ran out of time. Suppose to be very good.

Chandi - new restaurant on Jl.Oberoi.

La Lucciola (breakfast or lunch) - apparently breakfast best on weekend.

Bali Deli has a range of cold meats and cheeses and also work a visit for coffee and cake.

Hu'u - beautiful food and ambience. Good place for a drink - lounge style.

SHOPPING - Seminyak
Body & Soul Factory Outlet on Jl Raya Seminyak, close to turn off into Jl Dyana Pura and Lulu on same road, but opposite side. Lulu is a great place, Brazilian designer. Not cheap for Bali but I really liked the stuff.

Also look our for Innuendo, opposite JP's on JL Dyana Pura & Bamboo Blonde which is on Jalan Laksmana St, Pura Vida has some funky stuff and Flower Power is also good. They're both on JL Raya Seminyak.

KUTA - Restarants
Swells - Poppies 1 (about half way down) - a MUST for lunch. Very cheap, but FANTASTIC food. Try the garlic cheese mushrooms, they are to die for!

Aromas Café - Jalan Legian Kuta - a fantastic vegetarian restaurant. Beautiful juices. A great stopping point on a shopping walk down Legian St. Really good toilets and beautiful garden area to eat in out the back of restaurant.

Poppies - Poppies 1 Tel: (0361) 751059 - nice for dinner. The garlic cheese bread is amazing.

SPA/MASSAGE
BODYWORKS - Jalan Kayu Jati 2, Petitenget, Seminyak +62 361 733 317
A must do for massages, pedicure etc. It's heaven, but you must pre-book. They have couples rooms if both of you want a massage. Most relaxing.

GOOD PLACES FOR STOCKING UP ON MIXERS/WATER/SNACKS
Bintang in Seminyak - Supermarket (see map)
Jl. Raya Seminyak No.17, Seminyak OPEN 7:30AM - 23:00PM

Carrefour - Supermarket
Sunset Road, Kuta (taxi ride away)
Good priced cosmetics and toiletries. Sells absolutely everything!

BALI INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CENTRE (BIMC)
Jl. By Pass Ngurah Rai 100 X Bali , Kuta - +62 361 761 263
