so how do you guys get around the bit about our WA licences including a scooter in them and when you get the international licence they don't stamp it for motorbike riding but then the Bali police want to see something saying you can ride a motorbike, then you have to explain that the licence (as far as ours goes) covers a scooter type bike.

The only way we got around that was by going to a police station once we got to Bali and getting a tourist licence from there and they stated on it that we could ride a bike. Although may I point out our drivers licence didn't say that. Weird!

Do I just have to 'call their bluff' and be stronger.

We have never been 'in the wrong' (well in our view ;-))but there are so many horror stories that I am scared, to a degree, of arguing with them.
