We stay at Wawa Wewe 2. It is fabulous. But shopping and TV and nitespots are not on the agenda. It is a place to swim, rest, relax, eat, drink and enjoy the culture. Twice a week they have live bands at Wawa Wewe 1 which is great fun. We love the area and are always treated extremely well.
The drive from Kuta/Tuban via Candi Dasa is fabulous. Stop at the water temple, gaze at the terraced rice fields. Take cash as there are no ATMs and most small resorts (hotels) don't have Eftos or are able to process credit cards.
Wake early and watch the hundreds of sishing boats come home with their catch. eat freshly caught fish cooked over a coconut shell barbecue.
Don't expect to surf or find any sand, or hawkers or time share sellers. It is one of those places that truely recharges life's batteries.
