I really don't know what came over me.
However, my 85 year old mother is devastated.
This was to be the first potentially "shonky" thing she had done in all her life and she was really looking forward to it.
Now she is just exercising her right to use a normal travel improvement service, at additional cost (to me!)
However, I could make it up by telling her to pay the arrival fee in Aussie dollars, as that has never been officially declared "legal", and must therefore ergo be "Illegal".
I trust that all those who have criticised VIP as "shonky" and not to be used as a result will now pay VOA solely in USD.
After all, we do not want to tempt Indonesian officials into giving the wrong change or poor exchange rate do we??
In the meantime I will book mum in with Murti, and ask Murti to look as furtive and secretive as possible, just so she gets her (or my) moneys worth!!
