Backpacking

Gday,
im backpacking through asia at the beginning of next year, with my 1st stop being bali... looking to get some information on any seriously cheap accomodation located in the kuta area.? just the basics required, (bed/fan/shower) ..getting to bali on the 18th feb then heading onto thailand on the 14th march..

any suggestions/info/experiences would be a tremendous help.
